On average, one person dies by suicide every 8 hours in Indiana. Overall, suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the state, and Indiana is ranked 27th in the nation for its suicide rate. More than 4 times as many people died by suicide in 2019 than in alcohol related motor vehicle accidents. The good news is that there is hope, and suicide is preventable. The Suicide Prevention Coalition of Howard County invites our community to join them in the First Annual Walk of Hope on Saturday, September 10 in Foster Park at the Kokomo Senior Center. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. with programming at 8:00 a.m. followed by the walk at 9:00 a.m. Registration is free (donations will be accepted) so bring the family.
