The Kokomo Symphony is proud to perform a concert featuring women: women
composers, women soloists, and women musicians! World -famous Kokomo vocalist,
Alicia Berneche, relates the James Agee’s poignant story, Knoxville: Summer of 1915 put
to music by American composer Samuel Barber. Kokomo native and world-renowned
jazz pianist Becky Archibald, will perform her piece, What if?
We will also feature music written by living American woman, Joan Tower, her Fanfare for the Uncommon
Woman, a tribute to strong women all over the world who accomplish great things, and Jennifer Higdon’s Blue Cathedral, a magical piece that touches the heart and, once you know the story, touches your soul. We will be honoring local female past contributors who have impacted and supported the symphony through the years.
